ABOUT
Now that we have the potential to document our every waking memory across social media, do we have any need for our memories anymore? What happened to the family photo album? How do we decide which photos to take and which not to take?
Inspired by the Japanese concept, Yugen, Perfect Insta asks us to consider beauty in our everyday surroundings and to make memories from the mundane and the everyday. Developed prior to the pandemic, the piece asks you to take a walk around your neighbourhood and imagine you are anywhere else but there, in a personal quest to find something ‘photo worthy’ without the usual trappings on an instagram photo.
This 20min outdoor walking audio experience asks you to explore your neighbourhood with fresh eyes and consider the relationship between memory, social media and - you. Head out alone with a phone & headphones.
